Magnetic resonance imaging helps investigate back problems

MRI is another way to investigate the cause of back pain. When suspecting a pinched nerve (pain radiating to the leg and numbness in the leg), an MRI will tell you whether the nerve roots or spinal cord are pinched. An MRI can also reveal slipped discs.

At SYNLAB, you can have a spinal MRI (select a cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine MRI), even without a referral. An MRI scan is not included in the back pain test panel.
