How to prepare for a sleep apnea examination

A sleep apnea examination, or night polygraphy, is performed by wearing a test device while sleeping at home. You can have the examination with or without a referral. Book an appointment on the booking page or by calling 010 326 3260.

When you arrive for your examination, please bring a photo ID with you.

Sleep apnea examination with SYNLAB

• At the appointment, you will be given a sleep apnea test device. The nurse will instruct you how to put on the device.

 • The appointment takes about 20 minutes. Remember to also read the rental terms and conditions for the sleep apnea test device.

 • Sleep the next night at home.

• Usually, the device is returned to the clinic by 10 a.m. on the following day without needing to book an appointment (with the exception of Turku, where customers are asked to book an appointment for Saturday to return the device).

How to prepare for the examination

• Please ensure that there is no nail polish or artificial nail on the nail on which the finger sensor is placed (usually the middle finger of either hand).

 • When booking an appointment, please make sure that you will be able to return the device to the clinic, usually by 10 a.m. the following day.

 • Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment.

 • Please avoid strong fragrances when visiting our clinic.

Cancelling an examination appointment

If you are unable to attend, you can cancel your appointment in the online service or by calling our appointment booking service at 010 326 3260. You cannot cancel an appointment by e-mail.

We charge EUR 50 for no shows or appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the sleep apnea examination.
